Teens for Food Justice
Mission
1.4M New Yorkers are food insecure and 25 percent of them are children. In communities served by TFFJ, adult obesity rates as high as 32% (with child rates at 23%), 15% diabetes rates, and 34% hypertension rates are common. These data underscore the importance of having an easily accessible source of fresh, nutritious food that can prevent these diet-related illnesses, which cost NYC in excess of $4B annually. These statistics are also reflected nationally; TFFJ is already expanding its reach to serve other cities as described below.
